About The Position

The Assistant Professor instructs undergraduate nursing students in didactic, laboratory, and clinical settings while fostering a supportive, inclusive, and high-quality learning environment. Plans, implements, and evaluates learning experiences in alignment with the Trinity College of Nursing vision, mission, values, and program outcomes. Utilizes innovative, evidence-based teaching strategies to promote critical thinking, clinical reasoning, and professional development of future nurses committed to improving the health of individuals, families, and communities. This position fulfills the academic triad of teaching, scholarship, and service through active engagement in scholarly and service activities that support professional growth and program advancement. Contributes to curriculum development and continuous program improvement, collaborates with faculty and administration to support student success and accreditation requirements, and participates in assessment and quality improvement initiatives. Requirements

  • Masters degree in nursing
  • 2 years of clinical practice
  • Registered Nurse license in both Iowa and Illinois or be eligible to do so
  • Must possess and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Must possess and maintain ACLS

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates the UnityPoint Health Values and Standards of Behaviors as well as adheres to policies and procedures and safety guidelines.
  • Demonstrates ability to meet business needs of department with regular, reliable attendance.
  • Employee maintains current licenses and/or certifications required for the position.
  • Practices and reflects knowledge of HIPAA, TJC, DNV, OSHA, FERPA, TITLE IX, and other federal/state regulatory agencies guiding higher education and healthcare.
  • Completes all annual education and competency requirements within the calendar year.
  • Is knowledgeable of College, hospital, and department compliance requirements commensurate with position (Title IV, Title IX, Campus Violence).
  • Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of supervisor.
  • Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.
  • Supports vision, mission, and values of Trinity College.
