About The Position

The Department of Mathematics at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time 9-month tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2026. As a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics you will be expected to: 1. Teach 12 credit hours (generally four courses) per semester (fall and spring) of developmental, introductory, or advanced undergraduate mathematics, primarily face-to-face at MSU's campus in Wichita Falls, TX. 2. Pursue an active research agenda in mathematics or a closely related field 3. Participate in departmental, college, and university service and administration

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely related field, such as statistics or applied mathematics (ABD is acceptable at time of selection, but completion date must be no later than August 1, 2026.)
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching undergraduate courses. Teaching as a graduate student is applicable a long as it includes primary responsibility for a course.
  • Active research agenda in mathematics or a closely related field
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to maintain positive interpersonal relationships
  • Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community.

  • Personal cell phone usage may be required to complete position duties, including multi-function authentication requirements.
  • Regular reliable attendance is required.
