About The Position

Mount Mary University (MMU) invites applicants to apply for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics beginning in August 2026. This full-time appointment requires a 12-credit per semester teaching load, including a minimum of two introductory courses each semester. Founded in 1913 by the School Sisters of Notre Dame, Mount Mary University lives out its mission today through providing an education that fosters the development of the whole person. In 2020, MMU became one of two colleges in Wisconsin to be federally designated as a Hispanic-Serving Institution. According to U.S. News and World Report, the university is also ranked as one of the two most diverse universities in the Midwest. We seek a candidate with expertise in mathematics pedagogy and a passion for working with first-year students. The successful applicant will collaborate with full-time and adjunct faculty in mathematics as well as work in concert with administrators, other faculty, and support staff to promote retention-boosting efforts. We are especially interested in candidates who can teach across the mathematics curriculum, including both introductory and upper-level mathematics courses required for majors and minors.

Requirements

• A Ph.D. in Mathematics or closely related field (ABD considered if degree is conferred before start date)
• Experience teaching diverse learners using inclusive and trauma-informed practices
• A demonstrated commitment to working with first-year university students
• A Curriculum Vitae (C.V.)
• A cover letter addressing essential qualifications, teaching experience, plans for scholarship and professional development, and a teaching philosophy that incorporates commitment to issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in teaching

Responsibilities

• Teach undergraduate courses across the mathematics curriculum
• Participate in developing, revising, and assessing program curriculum
• Deliver course content in a variety of formats including in-person and hybrid
• Provide service to the School of Arts & Sciences and the Mount Mary community
• Engage in ongoing professional development through publication and presentation
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students within the School of Arts & Sciences
• Demonstrate an active, on-campus presence and commitment to living out Mount Mary University's values and mission
