About The Position

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at East Tennessee State University invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant professor position beginning August 15, 2026. The department has 13 tenured or tenure-track faculty, 4 full-time teaching staff, and 3 adjunct instructors. It serves 49 undergraduate majors with concentrations in statistics, computational applied mathematics, mathematical sciences, and mathematics teacher education. Additionally, there are 19 graduate students pursuing an MS in Mathematical Sciences and 16 in an MS in Applied Data Science. Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics
  • 10+ Years of Teaching Experience in Higher Education
  • Demonstrated leadership ability
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to demonstrate an exceptional commitment to the teaching and mentoring of students and are expected to have an active, ongoing research program.

  • Experience in the use of classroom technology in engaging students
  • Ability and Experience in teaching statistics courses in our STAT rubric
  • Must be willing to relocate to Tri-Cities Area
