About The Position

The Assistant Professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at University of Kansas Medical Center will perform advanced bronchoscopic and interventional pulmonary procedures, manage pleural and complex pulmonary disease, and provide high-quality medical care to patients in both inpatient and outpatient settings. In addition, the Assistant Professor will play an active role in the education and training of Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellows, as well as participate in departmental and divisional academic activities.

Requirements

  • MD, DO or equivalent.
  • This position requires a formal degree in the cited discipline area(s) to ensure that candidates have the foundational knowledge and skill set required to perform the duties of the position. The level of degree is based on accreditation requirements, institutional standards of academic and professional excellence, alignment with peer institution benchmarks, and contributes to the credibility and effectiveness of the role within the university community.
  • 3 years of experience in basic/translational research in respiratory field.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced interventional pulmonary and bronchoscopic diagnostic procedures, including therapeutic bronchoscopy for benign and malignant diseases.
  • Manage pleural disease using state-of-the-art diagnostic and therapeutic techniques.
  • Provide comprehensive care for pulmonary patients in both inpatient and outpatient clinical settings.
  • Collaborate with an established Interventional Pulmonary and Advanced Bronchoscopy research group to support clinical innovation and scholarly activity.
  • Contribute to the education and mentorship of Pulmonary and Critical Care Fellows, residents, and medical students.
  • Participate in departmental and divisional educational conferences, teaching rounds, and academic activities as assigned.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development and maintain expertise in interventional pulmonary medicine.
