About The Position

The Department of Art and Design at Utah State University announces a nine-month, tenure-track position for an Assistant Professor in our Interior Architecture & Design program. The Interior Architecture and Design program at Utah State University is accredited by the Council for Interior Design Accreditation (CIDA), making it the first program in the state to receive this recognition. It has established a strong reputation for winning national and international design competitions. Additionally, the program is ranked eighth in the country for Interior Design Education based on value. With approximately 100 undergraduate majors, our faculty are experts at preparing interior designers for professional success. Students gain numerous experiences to help them develop and refine their design skills. Each year, we invite internationally renowned designers and architects to campus to collaborate with our students. We also offer travel opportunities through student design trips at prominent design venues and historic sites. Students actively participate in professional associations, including ASID, IIDA, and USGBC. In this highly competitive technical program, students must pass a first-year portfolio review for admission and complete a second-year review to continue. A minimum six-week internship is required during the summer of the third year, and most students pass the LEED Green Associate exam within their first year in the program. Additionally, students may wish to further their studies in architecture by applying for a graduate program that aligns with their goals. Our graduates enter the job market with real-world experience, pursue successful careers, and become leaders in the design profession. Academic degrees offered include the Bachelor of Interior Architecture and Design and the Master of Fine Arts with a focus on Interior Architecture and Design.
