About The Position

The UNLV College of Engineering and the Honors College are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to join the faculty as an Assistant Professor in Residence. The successful candidate will have a strong background in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, along with a demonstrated passion for teaching and meaningful industry experience. This faculty in residence position reports to both colleges and includes teaching responsibilities across both units. Beyond instruction, the role includes contributing to curriculum development, program assessment, student mentorship, and other forms of college and university service. The faculty member will play a central role in developing and delivering new interdisciplinary courses such as applied AI, machine vision, immersive design, and sustainable technology practices that enhance the academic offerings of both colleges and advance UNLV’s STEM focused mission. The faculty member is also expected to teach first-year seminar courses for engineering majors in the Honors College. Applicants must hold a doctoral degree (PhD or equivalent) in Engineering or a closely related field by the time of appointment. Strong communication and leadership skills are essential, and preference will be given to candidates with prior college level teaching experience.
