The University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for a full-time, Non-Tenure-Track (NTT), Assistant Professor-in-Residence of Communication Studies in the Honors College. At UNLV, the “in-Residence” label refers to teaching positions with a service component, but no research requirement. The position is promotable through traditional rank. It is not a visiting position. The successful candidate will be employed as a member of the Honors College–not the Communication Department. The anticipated start date is August 1, 2026. We invite candidates with strong teaching experience in Communication Studies. The successful candidate will be expected to teach four Honors courses per semester; this typically includes three public speaking courses and a senior level “special topics” seminar of their own design. Course assignments may also to include a 200-level interpersonal communication course, depending on the candidate’s preference and needs of the college. The majority of Honors College courses are in person; however, there are some online and hybrid courses offered. The successful candidate is also expected to collaborate with Honors College faculty, mentor undergraduate students, supervise senior Honors research thesis projects, and participate in appropriate levels of service to the college, university, and community. Because the Honors College espouses a strong sense of community and a relationship rich education, faculty are expected to have a substantial in-person presence on campus.
