About The Position

Assistant Professor Arizona State University Department of Psychology The Department of Psychology at Arizona State University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience, with an anticipated start date of August 16, 2026. We seek applicants with expertise in cognitive, computational, or behavioral neuroscience, broadly defined, whose research involves human and/or non-human systems—and ideally bridges both, empirically or theoretically. The successful candidate’s work should complement and expand the department’s existing strengths, developing innovative approaches to uncovering the mechanisms that underlie fundamental psychological processes. Areas of interest include (but are not limited to): attention and perception, motivation and decision making, learning, memory, emotion, and motor control. Responsibilities include establishing a productive and visible research program, mentoring graduate students, contributing to undergraduate and graduate teaching, and providing service to the department, university, and profession. About Cognitive Science, Behavioral Neuroscience, and Comparative Psychology at ASU The doctoral specializations in Cognitive Science and Behavioral Neuroscience and Comparative Psychology include award-winning faculty with a broad range of theoretical perspectives, conducting interdisciplinary research, both basic and translation, in humans and non-human animals. Faculty interests span decision making, memory, learning, motivation, social behavior, canine behavior, perception and action, drug addiction, affect, stress, aging, and psychoneuroendocrinology. The Department of Psychology is a dynamic, highly collaborative community with doctoral training areas in behavioral neuroscience and comparative psychology, cognitive science, clinical, developmental, quantitative, and social psychology. The department also offers undergraduate programs in Psychology and Neuroscience, as well as Master’s programs in Applied Behavior Analysis and Addiction Psychology. Requirements

Ph.D. in Psychology, Neuroscience, Computer Science, or closely related field at the time of appointment
Evidence of scholarly contributions in cognitive, computational, or behavioral neuroscience, or in closely related fields
Evidence of quality teaching relative to the candidate’s level of experience

Demonstrated potential for conducting interdisciplinary research, particularly connecting human- and animal-based approaches
Evidence of strong translational potential in scholarly work, particularly in relation to addiction, neurodegenerative diseases, and learning science
Ability to integrate innovative techniques in data collection and analysis, such as: neuroimaging, chemogenetics, optogenetics, computational modeling, dynamical systems, big-data analytics, and artificial learning models
Potential for contributing to the design and implementation of innovative solutions for future educational demands
