Requirements

  • Ph.D. in a humanities discipline. We are interested in candidates with wide-ranging academic interests. Applicants who are A.B.D. in a Ph.D. program are also encouraged to apply, but must have earned a Ph.D. by the time of appointment.
  • Experience and/or interest in student engagement, spiritual formation, and recruitment.
  • Demonstrated excellence in teaching.
  • A commitment to the University's Theology of Racial and Ethnic Diversity .
  • A desire to work with a diverse community of students and employees who represent various cultures, backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities, political views, and expressions of Christian faith.
  • A personal commitment to Jesus Christ and express their Christian testimony in a church. In addition, employees agree to live in agreement with the Community Lifestyle Statement and affirm the theological commitments expressed in the Statement of Faith.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching 24 credits per year - 18 credits of seminars within the Honors program, and 6 credits outside of Honors.
  • Participating in the broader academic life of the university and normal tenure review process.
  • Developing and sustaining an ongoing program of relevant scholarship.
  • Contributing service to the Honors program, specifically student engagement, academic and spiritual mentoring, and recruitment, as well as serving on university committees as needed.
  • Potential for teaching reduction for taking on additional administrative duties within the program.
  • Communicating effectively and courteously with others, including employees, students, and the public, in a spirit of teamwork, respect and customer service.
  • By actions, words, and lifestyle, be a Christian role model to students, whether through casual contact or in a formal supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated experience working cross culturally with respect, appreciation and humility.
  • Other duties as assigned.
