Assistant Professor- Elementary Social Studies Education
About The Position
We seek to hire an assistant professor with expertise in elementary social studies education and teacher education. We are interested in a faculty member whose teaching practice is undergirded by contemporary research within social studies and elementary teacher education; whose work demonstrates a strong commitment to equitable teaching practices, social justice and diversity; who has an interest in and/or experience with practice-based teacher education; and who is eager to work collaboratively within the department, across departments, and within our university-school partnerships.
Requirements
- PhD or ABD if completed by August 15, 2019 in teacher education or a related field, with scholarly expertise in social studies education
- successful social studies teaching experience in grades K-8
- a potential for accomplishment in scholarship
- Candidates must demonstrate experience with or a commitment to diversity and inclusion.
Responsibilities
- teach undergraduate and graduate courses related to elementary social studies teaching
- develop new courses to advance program delivery
- advise graduate students
- maintain active research and publication agendas
- collaborate to write grants and shape innovative programs
