About The Position

The Sonography Assistant Professor/Clinical Coordinator will provide expertise in the diagnostic medical sonography curriculum and clinical instruction. The instructor will handle the preparation, presentation, and evaluation of sonographic techniques, patient care, and safety standards. The role requires a thorough understanding of sonographic procedures, the use of state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging equipment, and the ability to anticipate clinical needs for effective patient care. Individuals should be self-directed, compassionate, patient-focused, and exhibit excellent communication skills. Instructional staff must be responsible for providing didactic and clinical content, evaluating student progress, and regularly reviewing and updating course material.

Requirements

  • The clinical coordinator(s) must:
  • 1) possess an academic degree no lower than an Associate degree and at least equal to that for which the graduates are being prepared;
  • 2) possess the appropriate credential(s) specific to the concentration(s) that s/he coordinates;
  • 3) have documented experience in supervision, instruction, evaluation, student guidance and in educational theories and techniques; and
  • 4) have a minimum of two years of clinical experience as a registered sonographer in the professional sonography field.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain program-specific policies that meet accreditation standards for sonography education.
  • Deliver high-quality lectures and lab instruction, and evaluate student performance.
  • Assist in recruitment, advisement, and registration of students to support program success.
  • Prepare course schedules each semester, update syllabi annually, and revise course content to meet employer needs.
  • Ensure classrooms, labs, and facilities are maintained to meet student learning needs.
  • Actively promote the sonography program through participation in community events and marketing initiatives.
  • Administer daily program operations in compliance with CAAHEP accreditation standards and institutional policies.
  • Address and resolve student issues/complaints in a professional and timely manner.
  • Foster an effective learning atmosphere for students in both lecture and clinical settings, accommodating diverse cultural and social backgrounds.
  • Actively participate in consortia, partnerships, and professional organizations to advance the program.
  • Uphold the philosophy and mission of the College and contribute to institutional initiatives.
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry practices and integrate updated methods into the curriculum.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
