Requirements

  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Bioengineering / Biomedical Engineering, or a closely related field from an accredited institution or international equivalent is required for appointment. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate (ABD) will be considered but must provide proof that the doctorate was awarded prior to or by the start of the appointment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and strong interests in undergraduate and graduate teaching are required.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in written and oral use of the English language is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Preference will be given to candidates with a demonstrated excellence in university level teaching and research (commensurate with time since degree), experience with laboratory-based instruction and/or industry experience.
  • Experience and a commitment to working in a multidisciplinary and collaborative setting is preferred.
  • Active engagement in scholarship and professional development is also highly desirable. Knowledge of industry practices, working knowledge in modern design and analysis tools, and willingness to teach in multiple areas of the undergraduate and graduate biomedical engineering curriculum are also preferred.
  • Experience working with a broad range of student populations and fostering a collaborative and supportive environment is preferred.
  • Preference will be given primarily to candidates able to teach courses in areas of department need. Areas of need include: Biomaterials Biomechanics Biomedical imaging Biomedical modeling and simulation Bioinstrumentation Biotransport Engineering design Engineering physiology Cell and gene therapy
