About The Position

The Academies of Math and Science (AMS) is a network of top-rated, public K–8 charter schools that has served Arizona communities for over 20 years. Our Little Rock campus marks the network’s first out-of-state expansion, and we are honored to partner with families in Arkansas to bring our mission to life. We are seeking a passionate, data-driven, and culturally responsive Assistant Principal to help lead our Little Rock team in delivering a high-quality, rigorous education to students who may not otherwise have access to such opportunities. This individual will serve as a key instructional and operational leader, supporting teachers in implementing a standards-aligned curriculum, fostering a culture of high expectations, and ensuring a safe, structured, and joyful learning environment. The ideal candidate is a collaborative leader with a proven commitment to educational equity and continuous improvement. You will play a vital role in shaping the school’s academic culture, mentoring educators, and driving student outcomes—making a real impact on the lives of children and families in the Little Rock community. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Valid Arkansas Standard Teaching License or Initial Building Level Administrator License; or Eligible for licensure reciprocity in Arkansas; or Currently enrolled in an accredited Educational Leadership Program
  • Minimum of 3 years of successful classroom teaching experience
  • Must pass state and federal background checks, including fingerprinting and child maltreatment registry checks
  • Participation in the Beginning Administrator Induction Program during the first three (3) years of employment, including mentorship and professional development
  • Completion of annual professional development as required by the Arkansas Department of Education (ADE)
  • Demonstrated ability in instructional leadership, strategic planning, staff development, and community engagement

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in Educational Leadership or a related field preferred
  • 1–2 years of experience in an educational leadership role preferred

Responsibilities

  • Support the Principal in instructional leadership, teacher coaching, and professional development
  • Monitor and analyze academic data to support school-wide achievement goals
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a positive school culture grounded in high expectations
  • Manage and resolve student behavioral issues in alignment with AMS policies and Arkansas regulations
  • Facilitate family and community engagement initiatives to support student success
  • Oversee compliance with local, state, and federal educational regulations and reporting
  • Participate in school events, parent meetings, and staff development programs
  • Serve as acting administrator in the absence of the Principal
