Assistant Principal, 5th & 6th Grade (26-27, Middle School)
About The Position

We want a culturally, instructionally and operationally proficient leader who is passionate about furthering student achievement and providing a safe space for students to learn and grow. Our assistant principal will bring the following skills and attributes to the role: In this role, you will be one of two Assistant Principals working directly with the Principal and assuming ownership over grades 5 and 6. You will support and monitor rigorous teaching and learning and to establish and sustain a celebratory and productive school culture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree required
- Minimum 3 years experience as a school leader, preferably as an assistant principal
- Possession of or working toward a valid Massachusetts School Principal / Assistant Principal License or proof of successful completion of MA-PAL.
- Current authorization to work in the United States – a candidate must have such authorization by his or her first day of employment
Nice To Haves
- Masters in Education Leadership or similar field of study preferred
- Teaching and leadership experience in an urban public school
- School start up or restructuring experience
- High School leadership experience
Responsibilities
- Coaching and monitoring classroom instruction by leading and/or supporting the following:
- Professional Development series and sessions
- Observation and Feedback, including real-time feedback and co-monitoring
- Teacher and Staff evaluation
- Practice Clinics
- Planning and Data Meetings
- Implementing and monitoring systems and structures designed to support students’ academic success, social and emotional health, and positive behavior by:
- Implementing the school’s code of conduct, and all related systems and processes
- Supporting teachers to hold all students to high and consistent behavioral expectations.
- Working closely with student support team staff to ensure the success of students and teachers.
- Monitoring and supporting strong student attendance
- Monitoring and supporting a strong seminar program
- Collecting, monitoring, and responding to student and teacher data
- Leading grade level teams and participating in the MTSS process.
- Developing, promoting, and leading school activities and events designed to build community, celebrate student and teacher successes, and promote the school’s mission and habits of scholars
- Working closely with the operations team, lead and/or support the design, execution, and monitoring of key school systems including:
- Athletics and co-curriculars
- Transportation
- Scheduling teachers and students
- Testing
- Arrival, Dismissal, Transitions, Lunch
- Serving in other duties and responsibilities as assigned, including but not limited to:
- Working collaboratively with the counseling department, related service providers, family and community engagement staff, partners and other individuals to ensure that students and families receive the appropriate level of support services.
- Acting in place of the Principal in their absence
- Supporting and attending school events
- Coordinating and collaborating with Veritas Prep Middle School and other sending middle schools
