About The Position

The Assistant Parks Coordinator is directly responsible for, or may be required to assist in the training, scheduling, supervision, and evaluation of seasonal employees and performs grounds keeping, light construction, maintenance, and repair duties on the Bannock County Event Center (BCEC) & Wellness Complex parks grounds, facilities, public areas, and buildings. This position entails working directly with the public daily, requiring professional and courteous exchanges with both internal and external clients. A heavy focus is given to assisting with community events in various capacities including, but not limited to, setting up/taking down: audio video systems, tables, chairs, tents, and canopies. While this position may be focused in individual operational areas, such as: concessions, events, facilities, grounds & maintenance, etc. they will share in responsibilities and functions with other Asst. Parks Coordinators. Additional responsibility of assisting in scheduling and direct supervision of seasonal, or other temporary employees. The job is supervised by the Assistant Operations Manager and/or Events Coordinator. The job requires knowledge of grounds keeping and landscaping skills, building trade skills, and the ability to operate the tools and equipment required to complete the assigned tasks. The job requires the ability to maintain a collaborative and cooperative working relationship with elected and appointed officials, other county employees, other organizations, and the general public. The work environment includes a building and grounds maintenance environment and outdoor weather conditions including extreme temperatures. The job is occasionally exposed to hazardous chemicals, light/medium/heavy equipment, power equipment, and noisy and/or loud equipment, which subjects the employee to mechanical hazards. The job requires operating, but is not limited to, light/medium/heavy equipment, power tools, and motor vehicles .

Requirements

  • Grounds maintenance skills, including but not limited to, cleaning, grooming, mowing, planting, weeding, pruning, irrigation, fertilization, turf and/or pest control, and snow removal
  • Employee training, scheduling, supervision, mentoring methods, techniques, and objectives
  • Building trade skills, including but not limited to, facilities, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, mechanical, painting, and concrete
  • Maintenance and grounds keeping equipment and tool maintenance and repair methods
  • Applicable regulations and policies regarding safe application of fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides
  • Federal regulations and County policies regarding safe work practices relating to use of equipment, power tools, ladders and bucket trucks, grounds keeping equipment, and repair and maintenance materials
  • State, local, and other applicable building, safety, and health codes and regulations
  • Operation of a personal computer and job-related software
  • Ability to direct seasonal/part-time/temporary employees performing grounds keeping, light construction, maintenance, and repair duties on the county parks grounds, facilities, public areas, and buildings
  • Ability to assist with training, supervision, scheduling, and mentoring seasonal/part-time/temporary employees
  • Ability to operate and maintain equipment including, but not limited to, motor vehicles, excavator, loader, backhoe, bucket truck, tractor, and dump truck
  • Ability to maintain and repair electrical, plumbing, irrigation, mechanical, and related operating systems
  • Ability to operate and maintain power equipment, including but not limited to, grounds keeping and turf equipment, chain saw, riding, pull behind and walk-behind mowers, trimmers, tractor, snow removal equipment, and related equipment
  • Ability to operate hand tools
  • Ability to operate, adjust, and monitor automated sprinkler control systems
  • Ability to operate basic office equipment
  • Ability to operate a personal computer, including job-related software applications
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and diagrams
  • Ability to maintain maintenance records, logs, and documentation
  • Ability to maintain and reconcile purchasing and inventory records and documentation

  • Class B CDL with tanker and air brake endorsement; (Class A Preferred)
  • Current Food Safety Manager Certification

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Directs seasonal/part-time/temporary employees performing grounds keeping, light construction, maintenance, and repair duties on the county parks grounds, horse stalls, arenas, facilities, public areas, and buildings.
  • Trains, supervises, mentors seasonal/part-time/temporary employees.
  • The Asst. Parks Coordinator will be the "go to" person, or "first point of contact" for clients in support of events including, but not limited to, setting up projectors, screens, audio systems, chairs, tables, tents, microphones, garbage cans, and prepping equine arenas.
  • A professional and friendly demeanor is expected while working with internal and external clients.
  • This is a 24-hour, on-call position requiring working variable and changing shifts during weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays based on public need and events.
  • Responsibility for opening and closing the park daily.
  • Performs installation and operation of varying audio and video equipment, including training clients in their proper use and care.
  • Will maintain, monitor, and train concessions staff in proper food safety procedures for the protection of the public.
  • Performs grounds keeping and landscaping work in the county parks, public areas, and recreation/sports areas, including, but not limited to, mowing, tree trimming, fertilizing, irrigation, and pest and weed control.
  • Performs building maintenance including cleaning, carpentry, painting, electrical, plumbing, welding, and concrete assignments.
  • Maintains, repairs, and installs automated sprinkling/irrigation system.
  • Operates all equipment in the event center & wellness complex department inventory including, but not limited to, water truck, tractors, mowers, skid steers, motor vehicles, excavator, loader, backhoe, bucket truck, and dump truck.
  • Operates hand and power tools.
  • Maintains, services and repairs equipment and tools.
  • Installs and maintains county decorations and signs.
  • Maintains inspection, maintenance, and repair records, documentation, and logs.
