About The Position

The McGill University Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Division of Nuclear Medicine in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time Contract Academic Staff position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor (Clinical) based at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH). The professorial rank will be determined according to the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience. This will be a Contract Academic Staff position and does not confer eligibility for tenure. The Division of Nuclear Medicine is a central component of the JGH’s advanced imaging infrastructure, supporting oncology, neurology, cardiology, inflammatory disease, and theranostics programs with state-of-the-art PET/CT, SPECT/CT, and radionuclide therapy. The JGH is a major teaching hospital of McGill University, recognized nationally and internationally for excellence in hybrid imaging and molecular diagnostics. There is a large research program with the division conducting phase I, II and III clinical trials. Exceptional research opportunities exist both within the department and across departmental boundaries within the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and the University. The successful candidate will be appointed to clinical practice at the Jewish General Hospital (JGH)—a major teaching hospital affiliated with the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at Canada’s internationally renowned McGill University, located in the vibrant and multicultural city of Montreal, in the province of Quebec. The successful candidate will be involved in the academic activities of the McGill University Department of Diagnostic Radiology, Division of Nuclear Medicine. The incumbent will be responsible for clinical, teaching, and research activities within the department, which currently includes 16 full-time fellowship trained radiologists. The practice at the JGH is general radiology with specialized training and interpretation. This position is designed as a 50% clinical/50% research Clinician–Scientist role.

Requirements

  • Hold an MD degree with completed specialty training in Nuclear Medicine
  • Have fellowship training in advanced PET/CT imaging, including cardiovascular and neurological molecular imaging
  • Possess demonstrated research experience with evidence of scholarly productivity (e.g., publications, clinical trials)
  • Hold certification by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (or equivalent) in Nuclear Medicine
  • Be eligible for licensure in Quebec and hold certification by the Collège des médecins du Québec
  • Bilingual language skills (French or English) are preferred, or a commitment to acquire the necessary language skills to practice medicine in Quebec
  • Candidates should be able to interact in English and in French with patients, families, and health care professionals

Nice To Haves

  • Additional expertise in SPECT/CT, theranostics, and quantitative imaging will be considered an asset
  • Relevant experience participating in, or contributing to, guidelines or expert consensus processes will be considered an asset

Responsibilities

  • Interpretation of PET/CT in oncology, neurology, cardiology, and inflammatory disease
  • Interpretation of SPECT/CT and general nuclear medicine studies
  • Participation in multidisciplinary rounds
  • Supervision and delivery of radionuclide therapies, including Lu-177 PSMA, Lu-177 DOTATATE, and emerging agents
  • Teaching and supervising medical students, residents, fellows, and other trainees
  • Engagement in QA, protocol development, imaging standardization, and program development
  • Conducting clinical, translational, or methodological research in PET/CT, SPECT/CT, theranostics, or quantitative imaging
  • Competing for internal and external peer-reviewed funding
  • Publishing in high-impact peer-reviewed journals
  • Supervising residents, fellows, graduate students, and trainees
  • Participating in multicenter research networks and clinical trials
  • Contributing to national and international guidelines, consensus statements, or expert working groups
  • Establishing collaborations across disciplines including imaging physics, oncology, neurology, cardiology and other divisions
  • Teaching across undergraduate, residency, and fellowship programs
  • Contributing to curriculum development and examinations for Nuclear Medicine
  • Mentoring learners pursuing academic or research careers
  • Participate in divisional, departmental, and hospital committees
  • Engage in academic service at McGill University
  • Promote and uphold equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility
  • Support institutional missions in research, education, and clinical excellence
  • Actively involved in relevant aspects of McGill’s academic mission (e.g., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, and involvement in academic and administrative committees)
