Position Overview The Assistant Operations Manager plays a critical role in supporting day-to-day field and production operations. This individual works directly with the Operations Manager, Project Managers, and Field Teams to ensure projects are executed on time, on budget, and to Matrix quality standards. This is a high-impact, growth-oriented role designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced environments and are looking to advance into senior operational leadership.

Requirements

  • 2–5 years of experience in construction, operations, or project coordination
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Experience with construction software (e.g., Buildertrend) preferred
  • Excellent communication and leadership potential
  • Familiarity with residential remodeling or basement finishing is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support scheduling and coordination of active construction projects
  • Monitor project timelines, budgets, and production milestones
  • Assist in resolving field issues to maintain workflow continuity
  • Ensure adherence to company SOPs and build standards
  • Act as a liaison between field crews, subcontractors, and internal teams
  • Support onboarding and communication with subcontractors (Buildertrend, COIs, compliance)
  • Assist Project Managers with daily operational needs
  • Track KPIs including cycle time, job completion rates, and production efficiency
  • Maintain accurate project documentation and reporting systems
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and recommend process improvements
