About The Position

The Assistant Operations Manager supports the Operations Manager by coordinating field execution, operational planning, and administrative alignment across projects. This role serves as the primary operational integrator between Field Operations Leads, Project Administration, and management to ensure work is executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with company standards. The Assistant Operations Manager maintains a strong field presence while retaining responsibility for operational coordination, reporting, and follow-through, ensuring that field activity, documentation, and performance metrics align with company objectives.

Requirements

  • Ability to lead through influence, coordination, and accountability rather than hands-on technical execution.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills across multiple projects and locations.
  • Ability to translate field realities into actionable operational plans and reports.
  • Working knowledge of OSHA and construction-related compliance requirements.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and operational reporting tools.
  • Ability to operate effectively in both field and office environments.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Construction Management, or related field preferred, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Prior experience in field leadership, operations coordination, or project support roles.
  • Active and current Driver’s License required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational direction and support to Field Operations Leads and technicians.
  • Assist with hiring coordination, onboarding oversight, and workforce planning.
  • Support performance evaluation processes by consolidating field feedback and operational data.
  • Reinforce company expectations, accountability, and safety culture across field teams.
  • Escalate personnel, safety, and operational concerns to the Operations Manager with recommended actions.
  • Maintain routine presence at active job sites to monitor execution, safety compliance, quality standards, and operational readiness.
  • Support Field Operations Leads by resolving cross-project conflicts, staffing constraints, and resource allocation challenges.
  • Validate technician capability, crew composition, and job readiness prior to mobilization.
  • Identify operational risks, inefficiencies, or execution gaps and drive corrective action through Field Leads.
  • Serve as an escalation point for field issues requiring broader operational or administrative coordination.
  • Ensure consistent application of company SOPs, safety standards, and operational best practices.
  • Assist the Operations Manager with day-to-day operational planning, scheduling alignment, and workload balancing.
  • Coordinate inventory availability, equipment readiness, and material flow to support uninterrupted field execution.
  • Support project planning by reviewing work plans, schedules, and execution requirements.
  • Track and report key operational metrics, manpower utilization, equipment usage, and productivity indicators.
  • Support budget awareness by identifying cost drivers, inefficiencies, and operational impacts from the field.
  • Coordinate with the Project Administrator to ensure field activity aligns with project documentation, compliance requirements, and reporting timelines.
  • Ensure required job documentation, field reports, and operational records are completed accurately and submitted timely.
  • Support project setup and closeout processes by validating operational inputs and field completion status.
  • Act as the operational liaison between field teams and administrative staff to prevent gaps or delays in documentation and compliance.
  • Escalate compliance risks, documentation issues, or jurisdictional concerns to the Operations Manager and Project Administrator.
  • Partner with the Operations Manager and Safety Director to reinforce safe work practices and SOP adherence.
  • Identify and mitigate operational and safety risks through proactive field engagement.
  • Support incident response, documentation, and corrective action implementation.
  • Promote a strong safety-first culture across all levels of field operations.
