About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking an Assistant Nurse Manager to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager. Changing Lives. ® The Pediatric Specialty Clinic offers comprehensive care to patients from infancy through adolescence and for certain chronic diseases into adulthood. Our 34 exam rooms were opened in 2017; an additional 20 rooms are anticipated to open in 2018. This clinic focuses on multiple pediatric specialties including allergy/pulmonary/immunology, cardiology, genetics, neurology, renal, urology, diabetes, endocrine, gastroenterology, psychology, rheumatology, general surgery, and pain and palliative care. This unit has many state-of the art facilities including five echocardiography rooms, exercise lab, pulmonary function lab, EEG lab, two treatment rooms, and a phlebotomy lab. Requirements

  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is required
  • Minimum 2 years current or recent (within the last 12 months) experience in pediatric specialty nursing
  • Collaborates and develops effective interpersonal relationships with nursing staff, medical staff, interprofessional teams, and other hospital departments.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates excellent problem-solving skills, decision making, critical thinking skills, time management, organization of workload, delegation, attention to detail and thoroughness
  • Proficiency with computer software applications (such as Microsoft programs)
  • Demonstrates effective teaching skills for staff and patient education
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required by date of hire
