The Assistant Nurse Manager for the Akron General’s Center for Family Medicine and Internal Medicine departments will oversee daily operations ensuring the highest standards of patient safety, quality care, and team collaboration. This position plays a critical role in supporting the realignment of leadership responsibilities, ensuring adequate oversight across both departments, and maintaining safe, efficient daily operations. This role will strengthen operational alignment, enhance staff support, and improve workflow management within the ambulatory setting. Some of your day-to-day responsibilities will include creating schedules, recruiting, creating visual management boards, rounding, training, and managing teams in different practice locations. Your goals will be to ensure a high reliability practice and safely care for patients. The ideal candidate is a highly organized and experienced nurse leader who is easily able to adapt to different environments. This role requires exceptional clinical judgment, strong leadership and communication skills, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. A caregiver in this position works days from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 a.m.

Requirements

  • Graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN)
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or the American Red Cross
  • Two years of recent RN experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversee nursing personnel and patient care providers in the clinical setting.
  • Coordinate activities to ensure quality and safe patient care.
  • Anticipate and resolve patient care and personnel issues.
  • In conjunction with the clinical manager, ensure maintenance of annual staff competencies and continuing education.
  • Perform duties of the RN Ambulatory as needed.
  • Collaborate with care coordinators to ensure smooth and effective transitions of care.
  • Participate and/or coordinate committees, task forces and continuous improvement activities.
  • Participate in department leadership meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and patient safety initiatives.
  • Assume responsibilities of the clinical manager as needed.
