About The Position

Collect and process blood specimens for testing and performs multiple clerical and processing functions. Set up instruments. Maintain, clean, and sterilize equipment and work area following safety, cleanliness, and infection control procedures. Receive, centrifuge, accession, process and transport specimens. Verify all related records. May draw and collect blood samples according to policy. Order add-on tests, works pending lists, and resolve duplicate orders. Perform clerical duties which may include answering phones, reviewing EKGs, collecting patient demographic data for patient registration, ordering tests, reviewing Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage (ABN), data entry and filing.

Requirements

  • High School diploma equivalency or 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Certification specializing in Phlebotomy credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
  • Phlebotomy Tech preferred.
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Society for Clinical Pathology Board of Certification (ASCP-BOC) preferred.
  • Medical Laboratory Assistant credentialed from the American Medical Technologists (AMT) preferred.
  • Tech credentialed from the American Society of Phlebotomy Technicians preferred. All issuing authorities accepted.
  • Note: Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable.
