A golf course maintenance assistant mechanic performs mechanical tasks under the direction of the head mechanic, including repairing and maintaining mowing equipment, utility vehicles, and other golf course machinery, performing preventative maintenance like oil changes and blade sharpening, diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical and hydraulic issues, and maintaining records and parts inventory. This role requires mechanical knowledge, ability to operate tools, physical fitness for lifting and standing, and a valid driver's license.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Mechanical aptitude and ability to use common mechanical tools.
  • Knowledge of gasoline, diesel, and electric-powered equipment.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to frequently lift and carry heavy equipment and materials, sometimes up to 50-100 pounds.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, twist, kneel, and have finger dexterity for operating tools and equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in small engine repair, automotive, or turf equipment maintenance is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Equipment Repair: Diagnose, repair, and maintain various golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles.
  • Preventative Maintenance: Conduct routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, greasing, air filter replacement, and blade sharpening to prevent breakdowns.
  • Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in equipment.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repairs performed, and parts used.
  • Parts Management: Assist with ordering and managing replacement parts and supplies for equipment.
  • Safety and Operations: Follow safety protocols, maintain a safe work environment, and operate all equipment safely and proficiently.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Head Mechanic and other team members to prioritize tasks and ensure equipment is ready for daily use.
