GENERAL PURPOSE: The purpose of this position is to assist the Meat Manager with keeping the meat department running properly and profitably. This person will be responsible for knowing all aspects of the meat department and being able to fill in for any position when necessary and training new meat department associates. All while providing exceptional customer service. This person will also assist in determining production and inventory levels for the meat department. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Follows established departmental and store policies and procedures Ensures the quality and freshness of all products and services the meat department provides Responsible for maintaining the appropriate product assortment and inventory levels for the meat department Confirms pricing accuracy and signage for all products, paying particular attention to ad items Ensures the meat department is cleaned and sanitized daily and meets the company standards for appearance Deliver excellent customer service to all customers Is knowledgeable about all cuts of beef, pork, chicken, turkey, seafood, etc. and is able to cut all meats Grinds fresh hamburger and sausage Performs the following duties alongside the Meat Manager or in the Meat Manager’s absence: Ordering product and creating production sheets to meet the needs of the meat department based on past and projected sales Completes assigned tasks efficiently and in a timely manner Sets a professional and positive example to others Communicates openly and frequently with Store Director and Director of Fresh Meat Ensures company standards for safety, sanitation, and productivity are maintained Active member of the Safety Committee which helps ensure the safety of both Customers and Associates Writing the meat department schedule to ensure coverage and meet labor goals Teaches, mentors, and educates meat department associates to help them be successful members of the team Provides honest, direct, and constant feedback to meat department associates regarding their performance and areas of improvement Quarterly inventory of all meat department products MARGINIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
