About The Position

LifeSouth Community Blood Centers is looking for a highly skilled leader with proven management experience and a passion for making a difference in the community. The Assistant Manager – Quality Systems in Gainesville, FL, is responsible for the oversight of quality systems, equipment, supplies inventory, quality control and quality compliance for the collection, processing, storage, and distribution of cellular and blood products. This position ensures compliance with organizational policies, Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Good Documentation Practices (GDP), and regulatory standards while maintaining efficient workflow and quality control. This position will be relied upon to provide compliance and regulatory guidance and support to management and will regularly work with the Quality Assurance department.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in quality systems, inventory management, or laboratory operations
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, as needed
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong understanding of cGMP, GDP, and regulatory compliance in a laboratory or clinical setting
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be able to perform tasks that require standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field (e.g., Life Sciences, Business Administration, Quality Management) preferred
  • Previous supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Experience working in a regulated environment (e.g., FDA, AABB, FACT) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate Inventory and Supply Specialists, Lead Inventory and Supply Specialist, and Quality Systems Specialists
  • Review and approve staff timesheets and PTO requests
  • Work with upper management on personnel functions, such as hiring, disciplinary action, and performance reviews
  • Participate and contribute to external audits
  • Review and analyze audit findings and collaborate with management to develop and implement corrective actions
  • Review and help resolve issues related to daily and monthly QC records
  • Regularly meet and communicate with management regarding process failures, defects, and gaps; production trends; equipment, product and supplies issues
  • Compile and track and trend data
  • Assist in the development, review, and revision of SOPs and training materials
  • Oversee inventory supplies
  • Ensure equipment maintenance and cleaning occurs as required by procedure and that appropriate review of such records occur
