Job Summary: We are seeking a committed and compassionate Assistant Program Supervisor (APS) to support the daily supervision and care of students, ensuring that each individual has the structure, support, and guidance they need to thrive. The APS plays a critical role in maintaining therapeutic environments, supporting direct care teams, and helping students build important life skills.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED with 4+ years of experience in a child-caring institution, OR 2+ years of college with 2 years of experience, OR Bachelor’s degree with 1 year of experience (preferred: social or behavioral sciences).
  • Experience in therapeutic residential settings supporting individuals with developmental disabilities and psychiatric disorders.
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and crisis management abilities.
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively de-escalate crises.
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Ability to supervise, monitor, and support students across a variety of settings.
  • Must be able to implement approved physical intervention techniques and assist with student activities.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure appropriate supervision of students and maintain required staffing coverage and ratios.
  • Assist in coordinating shift coverage and participate in on-call rotations.
  • Train, mentor, and support new direct care staff.
  • Supervise and engage students in daily living activities, recreation, school, and community events.
  • Promote the development of students' self-care, social, academic, and independent living skills.
  • Assist students with daily routines such as meal planning, hygiene, budgeting, and chores.
  • Communicate essential information to team members to maintain consistent, therapeutic programming.
  • Provide transportation to and from appointments, outings, and home visits when necessary.
  • Maintain a calm and professional demeanor during crises; implement de-escalation strategies as trained.
  • Use agency-approved physical intervention techniques when necessary to ensure the safety of students and staff.
  • Support and implement individualized treatment and behavior management plans.
  • Contribute to the cleanliness, organization, and safety of program spaces, grounds, and vehicles.
  • Support activities in both residential and educational settings as needed.
  • Follow all agency policies and procedures regarding safety, incident reporting, and confidentiality.
