About The Position

The Utah State University Libraries seeks a collaborative, innovative, and user-centered candidate for the position of Research Support Librarian for Methods & Technology to join a team committed to advancing the research lifecycle at a Carnegie R1 land- and space-grant institution. The Research Support Librarian plays a critical role in supporting researchers by promoting open, ethical, and rigorous practices across disciplines. In particular, this librarian provides expertise and guidance related to evidence synthesis (e.g., systematic reviews), responsible use of generative AI tools, and other emerging research methods and technologies. Working with a team of librarians, the Research Support Librarian collaborates with colleagues across library units and campus partners to develop tools, deliver outreach and training, and foster collaborations that respond to the shifting research landscape. This includes providing leadership for the Libraries’ systematic review support service, contributing to AI-related research initiatives, and supporting faculty and students as a member of a broad, disciplinary liaison team. Reporting to the Head of Research Strategy and Innovation, the position is a 12-month, tenure-track faculty appointment. Support and mentorship are built into the tenure process. The estimated start date for the position is Summer 2026. Early-career librarians are encouraged to apply; professional development and training will be supported based on the needs of the successful candidate. Review will begin on February 26th, 2026 and continue until the position is filled. Salary is minimum of $60,000, plus excellent benefits including a 14.2% (starting at $7,810) annual retirement contribution. Requirements

  • ALA-accredited MLS, or international equivalent, by August 2026.
  • Commitment to responding flexibly and effectively to the shifting needs and priorities of the Libraries and Libraries' constituents.
  • Interest and ability to engage in ongoing professional development, research, and service activity, to achieve promotion and tenure.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with colleagues in the library and across USU to develop robust, sustainable, and targeted research tools and programs for all faculty, students, and staff.
  • Develop the expertise needed to support initiatives in the areas of evidence synthesis and AI services, especially pertaining to research practices such as discovery, analysis, and publishing.
  • Develop the knowledge and skills to lead the Systematic Review Team, which includes assisting with providing training opportunities for liaisons who provide consultations, assisting with developing training materials, and providing systematic review support as a member of a team within the scope of our evidence synthesis service .
  • Maintain awareness of emerging trends, tools, and resources related to research support.
  • Develop strong, collaborative relationships across USU to foster a deep understanding of research needs of faculty, students, and staff through consultations, projects, and outreach.
  • Provide research support through consultations and instruction as part of a liaison team.
