About The Position

The Assistant Kitchen Manager oversees the Back of House (BOH) staff and will supervise daily back of house restaurant operations. Responsibilities include supervising the food prep and cooking, maintaining a fully stocked kitchen inventory and complying with safety and cleanliness standards. To be successful in this role, you should be able to manage our kitchen staff and guide them to deliver quality food on time. Ultimately, you will ensure all plates are properly cooked and served and our customers have a pleasant dining experience.

Requirements

  • Any combination of education and experience equivalent that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
  • 1 to 5 years previous server experience.
  • Be able to work in a standing position for long periods of time.
  • Be able to reach, bend, stoop, and frequently lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Reaching by extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction
  • Ability to perform duties with extreme temperature and noise ranges
  • Ability to hear and speak clearly to communicate in person and over the phone.

Responsibilities

  • Can perform all duties in the BOH and backs up all personnel as needed.
  • Manages BOH staff and ensures checklist duties are complete.
  • Assists in orientating and onboarding new BOH team members.
  • Keep the food waste log up to date to prevent high food waste.
  • Maintains temperature logs for all coolers and freezers.
  • Ensures food presentation is appealing and accurate.
  • Ensures items on line are fresh and at appropriate temperatures.
  • Ensures menu items are prepared properly and according to Barrel House standards.
  • Ensures prepped food items are properly stored and dated.
  • Completes or delegates freezer pulls of any food items needed for the following day.
  • Completes prep list for morning prep team members.
  • Checks out evening kitchen staff and is the last set of eyes on the BOH. Ensures the next shift is set up for success and the BOH is clean, stocked and ready.
  • Adheres to company standards, including personal hygiene and appearance.
  • Adheres to health and safety standards when handling food.
  • Other duties as assigned.
