Assistant Instructional Professor
About The Position
The Department of Health, Human Performance, and Recreation (HHPR) at Pittsburg State University is accepting applications for a non-tenure-track (9-month) Assistant Instructional Professor position. Applicants must possess a master's degree in a field related to HHPR and have public or commercial recreation industry experience. Candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching, as well as the ability and desire to serve the Pitt State and surrounding community. Candidate's must hold a master's degree in Recreation and Sport Management discipline or related field. This degree requirement ensures candidates possess the advanced theoretical knowledge, highly specialized methodologies, and critical problem-solving skills fundamental to this work. These competencies are typically developed and rigorously validated only through the comprehensive curriculum and intensive experiential experience inherent in a formal degree program.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Recreation and Sport Management or closely related field
- Professional Experience in public or commercial recreation industry
- Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States at the time of hire, as the university does not provide visa sponsorship for this position.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses, including Community and Worksite Wellness, Camping and Outdoor Recreation, Facility Design and Operations, Administration, and other courses related to the B.S. in Recreation degree
- Mentor students and support their academic and professional growth
- Actively engage in professional organizations
- Contribute service to the college and community
- Foster student success and promote a positive learning environment
