About The Position

As the Assistant Head of School , you’ll play a critical leadership role in ensuring the overall success of our campus. In close partnership with the Head of School, you’ll support and manage key areas including school operations, compliance, enrollment, staff development, and parent partnership. This is not a classroom or teaching position, but a strategic role focused on driving the success of our programs through operational excellence and strong team leadership. This position offers a clear pathway for growth toward a Head of School role and provides hands-on experience across all aspects of school management.

Requirements

  • Hold a Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field
  • Have 5+ years of leadership experience in early childhood or school administration
  • Are experienced in managing teams and leading school operations
  • Are knowledgeable about compliance requirements and licensing regulations
  • Are skilled in building relationships with families and staff
  • Align with Vivvi’s mission and values, especially in creating inclusive, high-quality learning environments
  • Applicants must be based in or willing to relocate to NYC and have independent U.S. work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Possess NY State Teaching Certification (preferred for regulatory purposes, not for classroom teaching)

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Management: Oversee staffing plans and scheduling; support team development through mentorship, coaching, and performance management. Collaborate with the Head of People on hiring, promotions, and employee relations matters. Cultivate a positive, mission-driven workplace culture.
  • Program Oversight: Partner with the Education Director to ensure consistent program quality and alignment with Vivvi’s educational vision. Provide support and oversight to ensure classroom teams have the resources and guidance they need.
  • Compliance & Operations: Serve as the campus lead for compliance, licensing, and health and safety. Maintain a thorough understanding of Article 47 and other relevant regulations. Manage day-to-day operational logistics, delegate responsibilities, and coordinate emergency preparedness and safety procedures.
  • Family & Community Engagement: Drive enrollment and retention efforts through relationship-building, communication, and community initiatives. Support a welcoming and responsive school environment for all families.
