Job Details Our Assistant Head Nurse (RN) will: Assist in directing and evaluating unit personnel and maintain unit operation under the direction of the Director Assign appropriate number and mix of nursing personnel required to meet the identified patients' needs for nursing care. Reassess and adjust staffing and assignments as needed, for their shift. Assess patients during shift by making rounds, directing and communicating with nursing staff focusing on actual or potential nursing problems. Direct and evaluate work performance in terms of patient care, staff relations and adherence to hospital policies, rules and labor relations policies for the shift. In the absence of the Clinical Support AHN, prepare monthly staffing schedule and issue assignments for patient care unit to ensure continuity of care and acuity level needs Serve as a clinical resource person and make recommendations to staff for improvement in patient outcomes. Partner with an interdisciplinary team including, but not limited to surgeons, Registered Nurses (RNs), and ancillary staff to optimize patient outcomes and satisfaction. Advocate for and build meaningful relationships with patients and loved ones through safety intervention, emotional support and education.

Requirements

  • Passion for Perioperative Services and desire for growth into leadership
  • 5+ years of Acute Care Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) experience required
  • NYS RN License & Registration
  • Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree required
  • Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration
  • Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification & Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required, CNOR required
