It maintains the same key responsibilities of the Business Manager role but manages fewer categories. The position is structured to allow adequate time for the development of the team member and the skills required of a Business Manager before taking on a full desk. The Assistant Grocery Sales Manager is expected to be the resident expert in the categories he/she is assigned, responsible for driving sales, units, and profit in those categories. This would include keeping us on trend and relevant in the minds of our guests for those categories, by fine tuning item assortment, while negotiating relentlessly for the lowest possible cost of goods, in order to keep our everyday retails competitive. In addition, this position is responsible for creating and implementing promotional/merchandising plans that support our overarching “Go to Market” strategy, which would include, but not limited to our weekly ads, monthly display planner, shopper marketing efforts and ecommerce platform.
