About The Position

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) supports leadership of a regional distribution center by driving daily operations and delivering strong performance across safety, quality, productivity, service, and financial results. This role partners closely with the General Manager to execute business plans, manage resources, develop leaders, and ensure compliance with logistics and company standards. The AGM plays a key role in translating strategy into action while building a strong leadership bench and supporting continuous improvement across the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business or a related field (e.g., Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Financial Management, Production/Operations Management); and 2 years experience in a senior management role within an operations/distribution/logistics environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide
  • OR 2 years experience as a Walmart Logistics Operations Manager including supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing associates; managing associate workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of associates
  • OR 4 years experience in a senior management role in an operations/distribution/logistics /retail environment, supervising, evaluating, mentoring, and developing managers/supervisors; managing workload; and participating in the hiring and promotion of employees facility-wide.
  • Associates will be required to attend and successfully complete all job-required trainings and assessments (for example, Academy trainings, Open Door trainings, etc.).

Responsibilities

  • Lead execution of operational business plans to achieve facility goals for production, quality, safety, and service
  • Forecast staffing, workload, and performance needs to meet business demands
  • Manage assigned financial responsibilities, including budget tracking, asset utilization, and performance reporting
  • Ensure compliance with logistics, safety, quality, and regulatory standards
  • Lead, coach, and develop associates and leaders; support hiring, training, promotion, and performance management
  • Investigate and resolve associate, customer, and supplier concerns using fact‑based decision making
  • Drive operational improvements and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Partner cross‑functionally and represent the facility through community engagement and company‑sponsored initiatives
