The General Manager is responsible for leading all aspects of operations within a distribution center, ensuring strong performance across safety, quality, productivity, service, and financial results. This role sets strategic direction for the facility, leads and develops a high‑performing leadership team, and ensures consistent execution of business plans in a complex operational environment. The General Manager partners closely with associates, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver operational excellence while upholding Walmart’s values and commitment to customers, associates, and the community. What You’ll Do Lead and execute the facility business plan to achieve operational goals related to production, quality, safety, and service Manage staffing and labor planning to meet workload and performance demands Own financial performance by managing budgets, expenses, asset utilization, and business reporting Ensure compliance with logistics, safety, and quality standards across the facility Lead, coach, and develop leaders and associates; oversee hiring, promotion, performance management, and succession planning Investigate and resolve associate, customer, and supplier concerns using fact‑based decision making Drive continuous improvement and adoption of new processes and technologies Serve as a community and company ambassador through local engagement and company‑sponsored initiatives Leadership Expectations Respect the Individual: Build strong, high‑performing teams through trust, collaboration, and development Act with Integrity: Model ethical leadership, transparency, and accountability Serve Customers & Members: Make data‑driven decisions that support EDLP/EDLC and evolving customer needs Strive for Excellence: Champion innovation, learning, and continuous improvement.
