About The Position

As the Assistant General Manager at the Omnichannel Distribution Center (ODC), located in Avon, Indiana, you will be responsible for operational functions within a highly complex and automated Distribution Center exceeding 745K square feet, operating 7 days per week, 2 shifts per day. The AGM is responsible for the supervision of the Inbound, Replenishment, and Order Fulfillment operations, for an omnichannel operation (eCommerce and Retail), focusing on achieving defined service, cost, quality, and financial objectives. The AGM partners with the GM to implement strategies and objectives to maximize productivity, service levels, and maintain financial accountability for the ODC. In addition, you will work collaboratively with Leadership to accomplish the following:

Requirements

  • Strong analytical and financial planning skills with a comprehensive understanding of key supply chain processes.
  • Management skills with emphasis on leadership, supervision, motivation, communication, and planning.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop an engaged culture based on high-performing and empowered teams.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to understand and manage annual financial budgets.
  • A minimum of 7+ years of management experience in a highly automated, e-commerce distribution, operations, or manufacturing environment is required.
  • Previous Warehouse Management System experience, with preferred experience with Blue Yonder.
  • Previous experience managing, supporting, and/or creating annual operating budgets, possessing a high level of business acumen.

Responsibilities

  • Engaging and inspiring a team of 4 Operations Managers through daily supervision, mentorship, and proactive communication. Foster a culture of continuous improvement by providing direction for receiving, replenishment, and order fulfillment activities, conducting regular performance reviews, and providing feedback to optimize performance and growth.
  • Implement, in partnership with the GM, the strategic vision and business plan for the DC to achieve the DC's performance objectives, including maintaining staffing requirements.
  • Manage and adhere to the DC financial budget; provide input and recommendations for budget revisions; and represent the DC in articulating overall performance and expenditures as required.
  • Lead with agility and manage ambiguity by proactively identifying potential disruptions and anticipated changes, developing contingency plans, and swiftly resolving operational challenges, while ensuring financial objectives are met. Examples include managing sudden spikes in order volume during peak seasons, resolving unexpected equipment malfunctions, and mitigating disruptions caused by supply chain delays.
  • Coach, train, and develop the team using formal/informal training methods in alignment with Sephora values.
  • Assist the GM with the evaluation of the effectiveness of the assigned DC and recommend alternatives for work methods, procedures, controls, and staffing to achieve accurate and timely order processing.
  • Assume responsibility for financial, operational, personnel, process, and service-related objectives to drive continuous improvement and reduce overall cost-to-serve.
  • Provide high-quality internal and external customer service per company standards, including contracted transportation, supply, and equipment support partners.
  • Manage and optimize critical DC-related systems, including Blue Yonder WMS, Exacta WES, ProShip software, FRAME, Ferag software, and AutoStore software to ensure seamless operations. Oversee TMS, Material Handling Equipment (Raymond), RF devices, AutoStore AS/RS system, and Ferag Pouch system for optimal performance.
  • As assigned by the GM, manage, direct, evaluate, participate in, and/or facilitate activities related to capital project initiatives within the ODC.
  • Supports all Sephora Asset Protection policies and procedures by partnering with the Asset Protection Manager as necessary to address theft and other loss-related activities.
  • Partner with the Inventory Control Manager to support best practices and ensure inventory accuracy is maintained.
  • Implement and enforce all Sephora, local, state, and federal safety policies and regulations, including OSHA guidelines. Conduct regular safety audits, identify potential hazards, and implement corrective actions to maintain a safe working environment. Lead safety training programs and promote a culture of safety awareness among all DC employees.
  • Maintain a flexible work schedule and adhere to the requirement of working any designated shift required per business and operational needs, working up to 50% of your scheduled hours on evening and weekend shifts.
