Responsibilities

  • Assist in directing and supervising Front End operations, including lane coverage, customer flow, cleanliness, and overall appearance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and front-end procedures (scan accuracy, WIC, restricted sales, dress standards, check acceptance).
  • Perform or assist with all phases of the reconciliation process, including balancing the safe, registers, sales, deposits, and cash transactions.
  • Complete bookkeeping and administrative duties such as daily deposits, balancing accounts receivable, filing sales reports, and handling money orders, gift cards, and lottery processes.
  • Handle cash-flow accountability: safe transactions, check approvals, refunds, tills, and monitoring fund‑handling procedures.
  • Provide excellent customer service by ensuring fast, friendly, accurate checkout service.
  • Support payroll administration (timecards, corrections, associate files, pay rate updates, leave tracking) as needed.
  • Assist with training, coaching, and evaluating cashiers, courtesy clerks, and scanning staff; may recommend hiring, termination, and disciplinary actions.
  • Serve as an overflow cashier as necessary.
  • Implement emergency procedures for front-end equipment malfunctions and ensure equipment remains operational.
