About The Position

Aids the Head Football Coach in planning, organizing, and evaluating all phases of a competitive intercollegiate football program. With a strong understanding of the role of the NCAA and Division III athletics in higher education, assists in the recruitment of student-athletes, who reflect and represent the quality of Elmhurst University. Position Status: Exempt Salary Range: $48,000 - $54,000. This is the expected salary range for this position. The actual salary offered will depend on a candidate's experience and education, and departmental budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Previous college coaching experience.
  • Familiarity with Division III athletics.
  • Recruiting experience at the collegiate level.
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Aids the Head Football Coach in the organization and operation of an effective and competitive football program, with responsibility for the defensive position group.
  • Assists the Head Coach in the coordination of recruitment of student-athletes.
  • Directs and maintains the strength and conditioning program for student-athletes during traditional and non-traditional seasons.
  • Attends all pre-season conditioning and permissible non-traditional season practices for the football program.
  • Attends and participates in all team planning sessions with coaching staff.
  • Aids in the planning, organizing, and executing of all in-season practice sessions for the football program.
  • Conducts on-field coaching during intercollegiate contests as determined by the head coach.
  • Responsible for academic monitoring of student-athletes, reporting to the Head Coach on academic progress.
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of Elmhurst University, NCAA, CCIW and rules and regulations.
  • Adheres to NCAA Compliance Regulations.
  • Endorses and supports other sports within the athletic department and fulfills other secondary duties as outlined by the Head Coach or the Director of Athletics.
  • Endorses and supports other areas within Student Affairs, the Dean of Students Office, including attendance at all meetings and service on committees when appointed.
  • Interacts with all other college constituencies and actively participates in their events as a representative of the Athletic Department.
  • Performs all summer duties (recruitment, summer camps, and clinics) and special projects as assigned by the Head Coach.
  • Demonstrates a strong commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Supports the University’s mission, vision, and values.
  • Supports the Athletic Department and the University’s commitment to supporting students from all backgrounds.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
