The Assistant Football Coach will assist the Head Football Coach in directing activities of the football program within NCAA, Conference, TAMUS and Tarleton policies, guidelines and procedures. The assistant coach oversees scheduling, budgeting, recruiting, work-outs, travel arrangements, and game planning for Tarleton State University Football. Performs tasks related to game administration of sporting events hosted by Tarleton State University. The Assistant Football Coach is responsible for maintaining high academic standards to support the academic development and graduation of student-athletes while focused on the student welfare. Serves as a Campus Security Authority (CSA); Work hours: Mon-Fri; 8 AM-5 PM or as work requirements indicate

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of coaching experience.
  • Knowledge of principles, methods and techniques associated with college football required.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, implement and evaluate complex tasks and procedures.
  • Excellent organization and supervision skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work effectively with all campus and associated constituencies.
  • Have a working familiarity with computer systems (including social media).

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree
  • Previous Division I college coaching experience

Responsibilities

  • Coaches student athletes individually and in groups and demonstrates game techniques.
  • Develops game strategy and position assignments.
  • Plans coaching and practice sessions in accordance with NCAA and Conference regulations.
  • Instructs student athletes on physical health, team concepts and safety.
  • Instructs student athletes in the rules and fundamentals of their sport.
  • Monitors and maintains the discipline and conduct of student athletes to support the image and reputation of the athletics program.
  • Ensures adherence to all Association, Conference, and University rules by student athletes and supporting staff.
  • Oversees recruiting efforts, travel arrangements, program budgeting, equipment management and game day preparations.
  • Promotes the athletic program and specific sport through community events, public speaking, fundraising, and marketing.
  • This position may be required to perform tasks related to game administration of sporting events hosted by Tarleton State University.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
