About The Position

Defines the policies, practices, and procedures to be followed by employees while performing individual tasks. This job description applies to the Assistant Feed Mill Operations Leader. Reports to the Feed Mill Manager. The Feed Mill Manager sets the work schedule and ensures all necessary equipment and/or supplies are available. In the absence of the Assistant Feed Mill Operations Leader, a qualified backup will be designated by the Feed Mill Manager.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of company policies and practices.
  • Ability to use a computer with a current Windows operating system.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel; ability to learn Windows-based programs (WEM, FMS, LogMeIn, GP, AgVision).
  • Possess a Class A CDL and valid medical card, or the ability to obtain them.
  • Possess a grain grading certificate or the ability to obtain one.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work at heights up to 185 feet.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 lbs.
  • Ability to work in confined spaces.
  • Ability to pass a PST examination for respirator use.
  • Good attendance and strong work ethic.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Dependable with flexibility in working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all mill operations proficiently, including batching, receiving, and feed delivery as needed.
  • Assist the Feed Mill Manager in conducting mill walks to inspect the facility and equipment.
  • Manage diet changes and communicate with production managers regarding needs and equipment issues.
  • Assist in scheduling incoming ingredients to maintain production schedules.
  • Perform assigned duties according to applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Responsible for new hire onboarding and training staff on job-specific SOPs and safety procedures.
  • Oversee daily tasks of Mill Technicians and Building & Grounds staff.
  • Manage material flow including receiving ingredients, grinding corn, ingredient inspection, batching processes, and loadout.
  • Coordinate with the Maintenance Supervisor to schedule maintenance projects and align resources with operations.
  • Communicate with support services regarding equipment needs, repairs, and maintenance for feed delivery and mill equipment.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with all internal and external feed safety and site safety policies, regulations, standards, and procedures as designated by the Trillium Management Team.
  • Conduct month-end inventory counts of ingredients and supplies.
  • Conduct FSMA month-end scale calibration, maintain the chemical register, and complete facility inspections.
  • Complete payroll and employee scheduling in ADP.
  • Prepare and submit ingredient samples per the Safe Feed program for internal and external customers.
  • Conduct weekly and monthly safety training for mill staff.
  • Assist with daily team huddles for mill staff.
  • Promote a culture consistent with Trillium’s Guiding Principles and Core Values.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
