About The Position

Assistant Elementary Principal - Burlington Public Schools - 2026/2027 school year Elementary Assistant Principal The Burlington Public Schools is seeking an outstanding educator with a proven record of success to join its leadership team as the Assistant Principal. The Assistant Principal will have the opportunity to collaborate with a highly talented group of staff members in a very supportive way. Qualifications: Master's or CAGS degree minimum of five (5) years in an elementary/middle school setting Massachusetts Principal/Assistant Principal Certification required Attributes: demonstrate evidence of leadership and have worked with students, staff, and parents to create a positive and successful school environment strong focus on best practice in teaching, learning, and assessment excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills demonstrate commitment to district multi-cultural goals and practices work collaboratively and take independent initiative to solve problems and address issues Job Description: Teaching and Learning To support the Principal in ensuring that: all teachers design effective and rigorous standards-based units of instruction consisting of well-structured lessons with measurable outcomes instructional practices in all settings reflect high expectations regarding content and quality of effort and work, engage all students, and are personalized to accommodate diverse learning styles, needs, interest, and levels of readiness all teachers use a variety of formal and informal methods of assessments to measure student learning, growth and understanding and make necessary adjustments to their practice when students are not learning scheduling of classes, students, and activities reflects best practice instruction is both differentiated and culturally proficient instructional time is used effectively Supervision and Evaluation To provide effective and timely supervision and evaluation of staff in alignment with state regulations, School Committee policy, and contract provisions. Data-Informed Decision Making support school leadership and staff in the effective collection and analysis of data to inform school and district goals and improve organizational performance, educator effectiveness, and student learning support the Principal in monitoring the effectiveness of school programs and procedures School Environment develop positive, collaborative relationships with staff, students and families and outside agencies that are involved in the work of the school and its students support the development and maintenance of a positive, personalized school environment support the development and implementation of effective plans, procedures, routines, and operational systems to address the full range of safety, health, and emotional and social needs of students Budget To support the Principal in the development of the budget, and act as budget manager for such aspects of the school budget as may be assigned from time to time. Student Support and Conduct participate in and/or lead meetings related to students' emerging or special needs or other difficulties collaborate with families to support student learning at school and at home contribute to the management of student behavior, in collaboration with support personnel as may be necessary Professional Development To support and model a culture in which all staff are reflective about their practice and use data, current research, best practices, and theory to continuously adapt instruction and practice to achieve improved results. General undertake such duties as may be assigned from time to time that lie within the scope of the purpose of the position represent and act for the Principal in his/her absence as may be necessary be a prticipating member of school and district-wide leadership teams support the Principal in fostering a shared commitment to high standards in all aspects of the life and work of the school and students contribute to the development of a professional learning community which is characterized by shared purpose, data analysis, collaborative activity and collective responsibility behave in an ethical, fair and culturally proficient manner at all times

Requirements

  • Master's or CAGS degree
  • Minimum of five (5) years in an elementary/middle school setting
  • Massachusetts Principal/Assistant Principal Certification required
  • Demonstrate evidence of leadership
  • Strong focus on best practice in teaching, learning, and assessment
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrate commitment to district multi-cultural goals and practices
  • Work collaboratively and take independent initiative to solve problems and address issues
