The Division of Traffic Signals and Street Lighting is seeking a motivated candidate to perform responsible work in Electrical Engineering. This role involves engaging in research, investigations, studies, or examinations related to the engineering functions or activities of a department or agency. The Assistant Electrical Engineer will be responsible for preparing designs and plans using AutoCAD, evaluating contract documents, specifications, working drawings, and other technical specifications and quantity estimates. The position also requires conducting field visits, completing lighting survey projects, and addressing lighting improvement requests to ensure compliance with city standards, IESNA, and national electrical codes. Key coordination tasks include working with design consultants, reviewing plans for new or modified signalized intersections and street lighting, and coordinating electrical service, relocation, and other utility requests. The engineer will also advise and make recommendations to other city and state agencies on traffic signal and street lighting projects, review and approve shop drawings and catalogue cuts for construction, and maintain records of drawings, plans, maps, surveys, and inspections.
