About The Position

The Assistant District Controller is responsible for supporting and overseeing key aspects of financial management, including accounting operations, financial reporting, budgeting, and internal controls. Reporting to the Sr. District Controller, this role partners closely with site-level General Managers to analyze, control, refine, and advise on financial performance at each location. This position plays a critical role in ensuring accurate reporting, strong financial discipline, and overall financial health across the district.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in Excel, including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, INDEX/MATCH, and nested formulas
  • Working knowledge of GAAP accounting principles and financial statement presentation
  • Experience evaluating KPI metrics and operational performance
  • Familiarity with ERP systems (NetSuite or similar)
  • CRM system experience (NavuSoft or similar)
  • Understanding of API-based system integrations
  • Ability to travel up to ~10% annually
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, SAP) and Microsoft Excel.
  • Excellent analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly.
  • Experience in process improvement and financial system implementations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post all required journal entries to complete month-end close accurately and on schedule
  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts prior to close, including prepaid expenses and deferred revenue
  • Review financial statements with management before close to ensure all accruals and adjustments are properly captured
  • Distribute preliminary financial statements to management for review and feedback
  • Upon close, provide clear written analysis explaining variances versus budget and forecast
  • Serve as a financial partner to site-level General Managers, providing insight and guidance on site-specific performance
  • Evaluate KPIs and financial metrics to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives
  • Ensure adherence to GAAP standards and internal control policies
