About The Position

The Assistant Distribution Manager supports the Distribution Manager in overseeing all aspects of warehouse and distribution operations, including inventory management, order processing, receiving, shipping, and logistics. This role helps ensure efficient workflow, cost control, and adherence to safety and compliance standards. The Assistant Distribution Manager also assists in leading, guiding, and developing warehouse teams to meet company objectives while maintaining high levels of service, accuracy, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of supervisory and/or management experience in warehouse or distribution operations.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge of warehouse equipment, safety protocols, and operational best practices.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Distribution Manager in overseeing warehouse functions, including receiving, storage, inventory control, and distribution.
  • Support the establishment and achievement of operational goals by helping ensure efficiency, accuracy, and quality standards are met.
  • Help allocate labor and resources effectively, monitor workload distribution, and provide guidance and support to warehouse staff.
  • Assist in ensuring accurate and timely order fulfillment, including picking, packing, staging, and shipping processes.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams and transportation staff to support smooth and timely distribution operations.
  • Monitor operational expenses within the department and identify potential cost-saving opportunities for management review.
  • Track and assist in analyzing shipping and carrier performance data to support optimization efforts.
  • Participate in evaluating and improving warehouse processes to enhance productivity, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Support compliance efforts by reinforcing company policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with investigating workplace accidents or incidents and help implement corrective actions.
  • Help maintain warehouse layout, product slotting, and overall organization to optimize space and workflow.
  • Participate in regular team meetings, communicating updates, expectations, and performance metrics as delegated.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory accuracy through cycle counting, bin management, stock rotation, and resolving discrepancies.
  • Support equipment maintenance by reporting issues and coordinating required repairs or replacements.
  • Maintain confidentiality of company, employee, and customer information.
  • Meet company standards for attendance, punctuality, professionalism, and leadership.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Distribution Manager or senior leadership.
  • Support the Distribution Manager in providing leadership and motivation to warehouse teams, contributing to a positive, team-oriented work environment.
  • Assist in assigning daily tasks, monitoring performance, and offering constructive feedback to staff.
  • Help train and develop team members, reinforce company policies, standard operating procedures, and best practices.
  • Recognize employee achievements and escalate performance issues to management when corrective action may be required.
  • Assist in implementing strategies that improve productivity, workflow efficiency, and overall operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor staffing levels and communicate labor needs to the Distribution Manager to ensure adequate coverage for business demands.
  • Assist with processing invoices, tracking departmental spending, and supporting budget-related analyses as delegated.
  • Help manage scheduling, review and verify employee work hours, and participate in performance evaluation processes as assigned.
