About The Position

Angels Child Care Food Program, a direct service program of Heluna Health, educates and supports licensed home day care providers across Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties in serving nutritious meals that promote lifelong healthy eating habits in children. Angels CCFP plays a vital role in improving the quality of day care, making it more affordable for many low-income families and low-income home day care providers. Since January 2001, Angels Child Care Food Program (Angels CCFP) has been dedicated to helping childcare providers serve healthy, nutritious meals. Our mission is to teach and inspire healthy eating habits that last a lifetime. The Assistant Directors responsibilities include but not limited to assist the director with preparation of program renewal contracts and budget. Administers and implements CDE/NSD/CACFP policies and procedures. Assist with annual audit and review visits.

Requirements

  • Organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage time effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Patient and supportive when training and assisting childcare providers.
  • Able to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Basic computer and filing skills required.
  • Provides professional leadership.
  • High School Graduate required. Bachelor’s degree preferred though not required.
  • 5 or more years of management experience required
  • Knowledge of nutrition/early childhood development preferred.
  • Experience leading diverse teams and fostering an inclusive workplace culture
  • Strong financial acumen and budget management skills.
  • Five years of experience supporting child care providers with compliance and participation in a child care food program.
  • A valid California driver’s license, proof of vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation or the ability to utilize an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
  • Background check clearance required.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred
  • Proficiency with MS Office/Windows 10 applications (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Excellent writing, spelling, grammar, and proofreading skills in English.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to engage in clear and concise communication.
  • Comfortable providing services that address the needs of underserved community members from diverse communities.
  • Ability to guide an organization through growth or change while maintaining clarity of mission.

Responsibilities

  • Trains, Supervises and evaluates program personnel
  • Plans schedules, prepares and travels to conduct reviews of licensed Day Care Providers visits as required by CDE/NSD CACFP.
  • Reviews Meal count records and menus submitted for reimbursement by providers in a timely manner
  • Prepares and facilitates annual provider training to assure providers meet program compliance
  • Assist with coordination of staff development
  • Maintains prepares and submits provider information on to CNIPS as needed to meet program compliance
  • Assists in Annual Budgets and Biannual Audits
  • Liaison to the community, program providers and parents of children enrolled in PHFE/ Angels CCFP
  • Speaks publicly on behalf of PHFE/Angels CCFP to keep the community aware of CACFP
  • Attends public meetings and trainings that can include but not limited to CDE/NSD/CCFP, Roundtable Food Advocates, State of California Department of Social Services, Community Care licensing and other community meetings as needed
  • Administrates and promotes program to target areas according to state guidelines.
