About The Position

As the Assistant Director, you will work closely with the Camp Director to manage all aspects of safe camp operations including mentoring staff, camp activities, scheduling and other daily tasks necessary to keep camp running smoothly. The Assistant Director will assist with opening camp and setting up the site, planning and facilitating staff training and staff meetings, general daily operations of camp, health center coverage, and closing camp at the end of the season.

Requirements

  • Prior experience working in a summer camp setting
  • Ability to lead groups in various outdoor environments

Nice To Haves

  • In Accordance with Section 11.A. State of Maine Youth Camp Rule, "the camp director must be at least 25 years of age. To assist with the 24 hour coverage of camp, you must be able to serve as Director on Duty on a rotating basis or as needed.
  • Current Wilderness First Responder and CPR Certifications or willingness to attend training
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Have a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record and willingness to drive 12 passenger vans.
  • This camp is licensed by the State of Maine. You must meet the State of Maine requirement for driving vehicles, “Drivers of vehicles carrying campers must be at least 21 years of age and be approved by the camp’s auto liability insurer’s agent.”

Benefits

  • Stipend is $5,000 to $9,600 for the season which can range from 7- 16 weeks, including paid training, paid in bi-weekly installments.
