About The Position

The Opportunity Alliance is seeking an Assistant Director to provide clinical and operational leadership for the Maine Crisis Line. This role supports a statewide, high-acuity crisis service and plays a key part in ensuring safe, consistent, and high-quality crisis intervention across all shifts. The Assistant Director directly supervises Clinical Supervisors, supports workforce development, and serves as a central point of clinical consultation, quality oversight, and day-to-day operational support. This position works closely with the Program Director to maintain alignment, accountability, and strong communication across the program.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in social work or related behavioral health field, required
  • LCSW or LCPC required or eligible within established timelines.
  • 3+ years of clinical experience in crisis or behavioral health settings.
  • Strong skills in clinical supervision, crisis intervention, documentation oversight, and coaching.
  • Ability to support a trauma-informed, inclusive, and high‑performance culture.
  • Must be able to successfully pass a criminal background, child protective service check & sex offender check.
  • Must not be on the state or federal suspension and disbarment list.
  • Normal office conditions such as sitting, with occasional standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, kneeling, crouching, typing and lifting up to 10 pounds.
  • Driving may be necessary to attend meetings and trainings but is not a primary and essential job responsibility.

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of supervisory or leadership experience preferred
  • Familiarity with crisis line technology and ability to troubleshoot day-to-day issues preferred.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical and operational leadership for the Maine Crisis Line, ensuring safe, consistent, and high-quality crisis intervention across all shifts
  • Directly supervise and support Clinical Supervisors, serving as a resource for complex clinical consultation and risk assessment
  • Strengthen workforce development by supporting onboarding, training, coaching, and performance management in partnership with Supervisors, Training, and CQI
  • Lead cross-team communication and consistency
  • Provide oversight of specialized programs, including Familiar Voices and Follow-Up, ensuring clinical fidelity and workflow consistency
  • Support quality and compliance through targeted documentation review and collaboration with Data and CQI
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for routine clinical escalations and day-to-day crisis line technology troubleshooting
