About The Position

This position is tasked with executing the student life cycle for the largest student population at the University of Denver, including the largest group of outside stakeholders (parents). The suite of Daniels Undergraduate Programs (DUGP) student services includes intensive contact and interaction beginning during high school visitation through students entire matriculation, and commencement from the University of Denver. Primary responsibilities of this position focus on planning, development, design, support, execution, maintenance, and assessment of student services for undergraduate programs at the Daniels College of Business. Aside from students and families, as a member of a strong team-oriented environment, this person will collaborate with, and make recommendations to cohorts, associate/assistant deans, school directors, department chairs, university offices, staff and faculty from all departments and colleges on the University of Denver campus to ensure a positive and robust student services experience for more than 2,100 admitted and prospective business majors and minors.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office programs Attainment of expertise in SCT Banner, for which efficiencies are required for multiple keystrokes quarterly per student.
  • Strong systems and processing knowledge with respect to general business and academic operations
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 2-4 years of professional relationship management

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in education or related field.
  • Experience in managing the undergraduate student life-cycle.
  • 3+ years of academic advising and/or student services experience, preferably at the undergraduate level.
  • Proven record of development and deployment of innovative and effective student services initiates based on industry best practices

Responsibilities

  • Advising: Provide academic advising services for four-year academic and co-curriculum for a caseload of approximately 300-350 undergraduate business majors and minors at the Daniels College of Business during four academic quarters per year. Ensure all students are informed of relevant academic and administration information in a timely manner. Respond to student concerns and issues regarding course schedules, degree completion and/or registration procedures utilizing strong problem-solving and registration database-solving skills to meet student needs. Plan and assist eight specific curricular areas within Daniels with respect to course scheduling and forecasting for purposes of strategic enrollment management. Display agility, assimilation, and dissemination of yearly 4-year curriculum changes/iterations implemented by the Daniels College of Business and multiple units across campus.
  • Policy/Procedure: Assist college and university units with academic processes including graduation certifications, preliminary graduation reviews, course substitutions and transfer credit evaluation, course scheduling, extensions and petitions to various academic units and academic deficiency notification. Assure compliance with federal guidelines, accreditation, DU and Daniels academic standards.
  • Program Management: As part of the student services team, this position will help to design, manage, coordinate, plan and execute student services activities for undergraduate students as needed. This will include communication to stakeholders, development of necessary printed materials and management of overall execution of activities related to student services. Manage and support finances and contracts related to the operational and logistical delivery of student services programs. Develop assessment tools to evaluate programs, offerings and delivery of activities. Provide leadership in working with associate/assistant deans, departmental chairs, school directors, university offices, staff and faculty to ensure a seamless experience for students. Work with team on student inclusion and belonging, retention, and persistence initiatives and their incorporation into the curriculum and student experience at Daniels
  • Strategy: Serve on campus or college committees as requested. Participate in strategic planning, development and management process in support of undergraduate student services. Evaluate and implement recruitment and retention opportunities for an increasingly diverse student population.
  • Management: Manage and train graduate assistants, multiple DUGP student employee groups, and third-party vendors by providing and setting expectations for exceptional service and activities.
  • Other: Perform other duties as assigned by the associate dean of Daniels Undergraduate Programs and the director of undergraduate student services for Daniels Undergraduate Programs Train, study and master redundancies within scope of DUGP portfolio of responsibilities. Professionally and independently create individual functional student services specialty area aligned with the Daniels and university mission which include, but are not limited to, inclusive excellence, case competitions, panel discussions, employer relations, data analysis, targeted populations, community outreach, Microsoft, and other professional certifications. Serve on campus or college committees as requested. Participate in strategic planning, development and management process in support of undergraduate student services. Professional development through industry organizations (e.g. National Association of Colleges and Employers (NACE), NACADA) as well as DUGP in-house opportunities.
