No matter where you're located—on campus or online—you are part of a mission that transforms lives and makes a difference across the state of Texas and beyond The Assistant Director of Texan Card reports directly to the Associate Director and plays a critical role in the daily operation and strategic management of the Texan Card system. Serving as the department’s subject matter expert, this position provides advanced technical knowledge of all software, hardware, and equipment associated with the Texan Card program. The Assistant Director is responsible for planning, coordinating, and prioritizing system maintenance activities, including hardware servicing, software upgrades, and routine troubleshooting. This role ensures rapid response to system faults and technical issues to minimize downtime and maintain consistent, reliable campus services. The position also supports operational decision‑making, contributes to process improvements, and ensures compliance with institutional standards. This role is designated as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) and must fulfill all associated responsibilities. The position is based on the Stephenville main campus and requires on‑site work Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., or as business needs dictate. Due to the essential nature of the Texan Card system, the Assistant Director is required to maintain 24/7 on‑call availability and may work extended hours during peak operational periods.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Six years of related experience.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to supervise and motivate staff.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret data and support decision-making.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment while maintaining a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
  • Clear and articulate written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information to various audiences.
  • Knowledge of security/ one card access management and operations.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees all functions of the Texan Card system, including access control, point of sale systems, hardware and software maintenance, daily operations, and customer service.
  • Provides leadership, guidance, and professional development for Texan Card staff to ensure high performance and service excellence.
  • Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to identify and implement cost-saving measures, revenue-generating initiatives, and service expansion opportunities leveraging the Texan Card system.
  • Serves as the primary representative and liaison for all Texan Card users and initiatives involving integrated one card solutions.
  • Ensures accurate and timely reporting of data to University leadership, designated stakeholders, and applicable State and Federal agencies.
  • Coordinates Texan Card operations for special events requiring one card support, including Summer Camps, Orientations, and other major University events.
  • Develops and proposes innovative enhancements to the Texan Card system's features, functionality, and user interface.
  • Partners with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth implementation.
  • Conducts thorough testing and quality assurance of new features and updates to the Texan Card system to ensure optimal functionality and a positive user experience.
  • Acts as representative of Campus Operations and as valued member of TSU as part of the A&M system and performs other duties as assigned, including serving satellite campuses.
