General Description of the Job Class The Assistant Director of Talent and Organizational Development supports the execution and implementation of the initiatives designed to advance the Talent and Organizational Development Strategy across Duke University Health System. As the department expands, this role will lead a team of Talent Development professionals committed to driving talent and organizational development processes throughout the organization to include team member engagement, retention, succession planning, leadership pipeline development, change management and other initiatives that facilitate the achievement of business objectives. The Assistant Director is responsible for implementing strategies and initiatives that develop and accelerate the Talent and Organizational Development Strategy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and/or equivalent experience
  • 5 years of work experience in talent development or human resources required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and local laws and regulations in human resources

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree preferred.
  • Health system, hospital, or Academic Medical Center experience preferred.
  • Professional HR Certification (PHR or SHRM-CP) or assessments e.g. Hogan preferred

Responsibilities

  • Execute the talent development strategy including succession planning and high potential identification; includes the facilitation of talent reviews, identifying areas of improvement, supporting business leaders in interpretation and presentation of talent calibration data, etc.
  • Support the integration, communication and implementation of the leadership competency model to ensure it serves as an effective foundation for leadership development programs, succession planning, performance management, etc.
  • Consult with business leaders, HR Operations and other stakeholders as needed to diagnose organizational issues and determine appropriate solutions to enable improved team and individual effectiveness.
  • Utilize various organizational and individual assessments including culture surveys, leadership reviews, 360 assessments etc to identify leadership and organizational capability gaps.
  • Provide support to enterprise advisory partners to build a shared future vision for talent development, co-create programs linked to strategic objectives and enable leaders to perform at the highest levels.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to identify best practices including coaching and technologies to support the achievement of learning objectives.
  • Measure and regularly assess the quality and effectiveness of talent and organizational development initiatives.
  • Support administrative activities related to the department.
  • Ensure effective utilization of resources (materials, vendors, and people).
  • Work collaboratively with Director, Talent and Organizational Development, AVP, Talent Development, HR Business Partners and Operational leaders.
