About The Position

The Division of University Housing at the University of Wisconsin – Madison is seeking an experienced Assistant Director to lead our Off-Campus Housing Services. The Off-Campus Housing Services office is the central resource for students and families seeking information about navigating the off-campus housing market. This position oversees the administrative operations of this office and will advance program goals and objectives. They are a public facing resource for off-campus housing for UW-Madison and provide educational programs, build relationships with landlords, and meet individually with students who need assistance.

Requirements

  • At least five (5) years of professional experience in university housing, advising, or a related area.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience assisting college students in navigating the off-campus housing market.
  • Experience developing and implementing student programs and events.
  • Master’s degree in Higher Education, or a related field with relevant work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • May assist in the development and monitoring of the unit or program budget and approve unit expenditures
  • Plans, implements, executes, and evaluates existing strategies and objectives for a program and makes recommendations to unit leadership for program or function enhancement
  • Leads the development and preparation of periodic reports and financial statements, and records progress, status, or other special reports for leadership or external agencies
  • Schedules logistics and secures resources for program activities across multiple work units to ensure optimum efficiency and compliance with appropriate policies, procedures, and specifications
  • May exercise supervisory authority, including hiring, transferring, suspending, promoting, managing conduct and performance, discharging, assigning, rewarding, disciplining, and/or approving hours worked of at least 2.0 FTE or equivalent employees
  • Serve as a primary resource for off-campus housing for UW-Madison students.
  • Contributes to the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors
  • Identifies workflow needs, contributes to the development of strategic and operational solutions, allocates resources, and implements new or revised unit operational policies and procedures
  • Work with housing providers to improve information available to students regarding availability, pricing, timelines for applying and signing leases, security deposits, and other aspects of rental units.
